ABOUT US

OUR VISION

Calypso Presbyterian Church is a growing community church that actively seeks to nurture faith in Jesus Christ:

  • In worship, study and fellowship

  • With all generations and age groups

  • By meeting the needs of our community

  • Through reaching out in worldwide mission

As a church, we honor the past and embrace the future as we work together to worship and serve God.

OUR HISTORY

In the winter of 1902, the Rev. Peter McIntyre began to preach occasionally at Goshen Grove Crossroads in an open-air pulpit on a produce loading platform located beside the railroad tracks.

At the meeting of Wilmington Presbytery in June of 1903, a petition for the organization of a Presbyterian Church at Goshen Crossroads was given an affirmative vote, and a commission was appointed to organize the church with 16 charter members.

OUR BELIEFS

As Presbyterians, we are heirs of the 16th century European Reformation, which emphasized that we are sinners saved by the grace of God that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and our sole authority for spiritual matters.  Along with all other Christians, we boldly affirm the Nicene Creed as a right summary of our faith and belief.
